Position: Child Advocate / Education Coordinator
The Family Life Center—Safehouse is a non-profit agency that supports victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our offices are based in El Dorado, KS. We also provide outreach services and community awareness/education throughout Butler, Elk, Chautauqua, and Greenwood counties.
This position requires a dynamic individual who enjoys working with children and is passionate about helping them navigate difficult circumstances.
The Child Advocate/ Education Coordinator works with children, families, and local educators to provide crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, advocacy, and age-appropriate prevention training to students K-12.
Preferred Qualifications:

Backgrounds in social work or related fields will be given preference. Experience networking and advocating with other agencies on behalf of others is desirable.

Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under stressful conditions. The ability to exercise mature and sound judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.

Demonstrated ability to work well independently and/or in a team environment. With a proven ability to assist in the development of program policies.

Effective English language communication ability (verbal and written).

Basic computer skills are required.

Public speaking is required. Ability to present materials effectively (written and oral).

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Ability and willingness to respect and maintain the confidentiality of client information.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to reach area schools.

Must pass a criminal background check
Schedule & Benefits:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM with flexibility to work overtime on occasion. After-hours on-call support may be needed occasionally to advise volunteers. This position offers $18/hour, paid vacation and sick leave, 12 paid holidays, and a monthly health insurance stipend. Specialized training in victim services is fully provided and paid for by the Family Life Center.
